Doctor Shopping May Be Fueling the Prescription Drug Problem

Addiction can effect just about anyone, regardless of where they were born, how rich (or poor) their families were growing up, and whether they are now currently successful in life with a good job or the opposite, someone living in poverty. It doesn’t matter if you are a hardened criminal just released from jail, or a college student completing their degree because they caught a lucky break or could simply afford to further their education. This fact doesn’t surprise many addiction experts, which could be an addiction counselor or even a health care specialist, but the fact is many doctors who have the power to prescribe very potent and strong medications (whether it be painkillers, sedatives etc) are often duped by addicts who know the system and know exactly what to tell their physicians in order to get the pills they want.… Read the rest »
